Ashton Lodge – a charming destination

Arriving at this gloriously attractive former Country House, perched on the West Midlands Leicestershire border, it was clear we were all to be treated to a relaxed, engaging, and informal occasion, but with all the splendour such a house demanded. Surrounded by three acres of lovely, landscaped gardens and grounds, this Edwardian era house has a perfect backdrop for such a wonderful warm wedding.

Getting ready with Alex’s family and friends in the super stylish dressing room, it was easy to get a sense of the occasion with all the excitement, laughter and nerves rolled into one.

As everyone sat and enjoyed being pampered with make-up done by Coventry based Mili Fox and their hair by Louse A’Ness it was obvious that today was going to be a very special day! A few glasses of prosecco always help with the jitters and as the bridal party got ready, they all looked amazing in their personalised bridal pyjamas and slip-ons!

When the moment finally arrived, the first look with dad was a very personal special and emotional moment. I thought dad was going to burst with pride when he saw his daughter, the bride, for the first time. His eyes were gleaming as he looked at her, the love, respect, and joy evident for all to see.

Outside the sun was shining, the children were keeping themselves entertained on a delightful rope swing suspended from a grand old tree. Giant Jenga kept others busy as everyone gathered on the patio for drinks, as the groom and best man mingled and enjoyed the sense of celebration.

The ceremony itself was in the intimate and beautifully lit garden room. Adorned with stylish and ever-elegant, beautiful Calla Lilies, the space was perfect for a summer’s wedding. Afterwards the newlyweds walked through the walled gardens surrounded by their guests who threw confetti as they strolled. We were then able to take advantage of the beautiful lavender strewn walkways and paths to take some stunning shots of the bride and groom as the sun shone down on their big day.

A relaxed, engaging, and informal occasion

The partial shade of the woodland left a beautifully sun dappled space for the group and family shots. Everyone bathed in the summer sun, yet with the cooling green of the trees to help make everyone stay fresh!

A truly exceptional feature of Alex and Tom’s day was the very special appearance of some alpacas! Supplied by Alpaca Pals they were a hit with all who went over to say hello to these wonderful creatures.

The reception itself was held in the grand marquee that was decorated to compliment the summer season. Each table being named after a specific flower. From delphinium to sunflower and gerbera to peony – it was a celebration of summer and of love.

Tucked, cheekily, on each place setting was a National Lottery scratch card! A little bit of fun that gave all the guests the opportunity to be as lucky as the groom on this day!

The three tiered ‘naked’ cake from Warwickshire’s Graze With Roots made a stunning centrepiece as it towered from the table. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all!

The party carried on in the marquee as the chequered dancefloor came alive with vivid colours and great tunes. It wasn’t long before it was filled with people dancing away and smiling faces all around. The DJ hit the right notes as the floor was ever filled as everyone came together to enjoy Alex and Tom’s special day.

Not only is Ashton Lodge a charming destination, but it was also ideally suited to Alex and Tom who loved the informal, relaxed, and homely vibe that it offers. A truly wonderful day with a great couple.
